Hi.
I've won a workstation in a competition with the following spec:
ATi FireGL V5600
Dual Xeon E5410
4Gb DDR2 667 FB DIMM Memory
Dual Xeon Intel Motherboard
74Gb 10,000 Rpm System Drive
500Gb Storage Drive
22x DVD-RW
1kw PSU
E-ATX Chassis
Vista 32Bit
Just thought I'd ask your opinions on what the value of this is if it was retail price.
TIA.

Basically it's a server specification - or very possibly a gaming PC!
Who's the manufacturer?0 -
Workstation Specialists.
Just wanted an idea of price if I choose to sell it. Any ideas?0 -

basically ask them how much it would cost to build this set up, that'll give you an idea, they don't need to know you already own one0

Looks like a fairly mid-range system, found the graphics card listed at only $300 back in Q1 2008 and the processor benchmarks at around 60% as powerful as current high end core i7 processors these days.
You're probably looking at around £500-£1000 but having looked at selling an old but still fairly powerful machine on ebay recently demand for big desktops seems fairly week presumably with most ppl finding cheapish laptops perfectly good for their web surfing/email/everyday use and liking something portable.
(built myself a very high end core i7 950 / GTX 295 gaming system this month for £1500 so personally think its doubtful you'd be able to touch over £1000)
EDIT, just noticed its a dual Xeon so you might get lucky and push it towards £1200

Tried that, but they're not willing to put a price on it.0 -
Any more opinions on this please?:beer:0

go to somewhere like scan or dabs on the net, spec out the components or close equivalents and that will give you a good price.
A brand new Dell 64bit Quad Xeon workstation with similar specs will cost you about £750 - £800 so selling a second hand dual xeon, I think you will be lucky to get £500. If the system is still sealed in original box and in an unused state you might get lucky and get a bit more. The only problem is that there is a limited market for a mid range CAD workstation.Beer meter E[.\.......]F0
