possibly hacked mp4 player

hi i have just got a 16gb mp4 player from ebay, i have bought from the seller before without any problems. i plugged in the mp4 player and as suggested i had run testdrive to check if the memory is 16gb as was stated, it got to roughly 4gb into the check and gave me an error, now the mp4 wont connect or switch on, any idea's as to what i can do please?

I once had a "16GB" USB memory stick that curiously corrupted things at the 4GB mark; I think it was really a 4GB one that was pretending to be 16.
I did get a refund from the seller though.

should i let the seller know i have used testdrive and that i think that the memory has been hacked?

i had bought 2 of the mp4 players from the same seller, the 2nd player has now arrived and is working great, been in contact with the seller and between us we have managed to figure out the problem, the usb cable that was supplied with 1st player has a loose connection in it, and the seller is sending over a new usb cable for me

both players have now been checked with testdrive and they are the full 16gb the seller said they were
