buying Grease tickets on the day

I am going to London with family for 5 days (next week) and we want to see Grease - ideally a matinee show. As we are not bothered which day would we be better off just going along to the theatre on the day to see what they can offer? Are the shows normally sold out? How far in advance of show starting should we go to the theatre..? I can't sit in the upper circle as I have vertigo and I am worried these will be the only seats left!
Any advice would be appreciated completely new to this and are hoping to do London without the huge expense!
Thanks

hi, bargain basement. Grease matinee is on Fridays at 5.30pm and Saturday at 3pm. You can buy day tickets for the front row in the stalls from the box office at the theatre from 10am on the day of the performace. This is limited to 2 tickets per customer though.
For special offers look on theatremonkey.com, i think there is an offer of £32.50 per ticket for Friday matinee only and Mon-Thurs performances.
There is also the start of kids week next week, this is a promotion run by official london theatre and you get 1 free kids ticket for every full price adult ticket (£53.50) purchased. To buy tickets for kids week go to ticketmaster.
Hope this helps

looks like matinee is out of the question we won't be there on Fri or Sat:mad:. I am thinking about taking my chances and trying to get tickets on the day can someone advise me how to do this - do I go to the theatre or to ticket booths...?0 -
you could try the ticket booths they are located in leicester square. But for during the week try theatremonkeys offer of best avaliable for £32.50 or do day seats at the theatre from 10am0

TKTS is the official on-the-day booth (google it for location - in or near Leicester Square). All tickets are half price, but you can't choose where you sit. You say how many seats you want and you get that number off the top of the pile, so it's pot luck.
There are lots of booths around but prices will vary as these are effectively touts.
Or you can try the theatre itself - they all do have a box office.0 -
I'm not sure whether it's a one-off, but Grease is full price at TKTS today. Can't remember whether it's been half price on other occasions.
To check what's on offer today go to http://www.officiallondontheatre.co.uk/tkts/whats_on_today/
You might be better to go for the day seats from the theatre, if you want to buy on the day.0
