Whats with the fashion threads

Options
popping up all over the place in health and beauty?

The ones" Like Tuesday 4th Aug - what I am wearing " or something just as silly???

Who cares what people are wearing? Is it just a place to show off? Its not like any advice is required or money saving by any stretch of the imagination

Do we really need these mindless posts cluttering up what once was a great board? I understand they have already been moved on from old style, surely they are purely just discussion (and showing off) and need to go in the Arms?

There was a really interesting thread recently on Fashion false economies which reflected the diversity of MSE and was interesting. Almost Prada vs Primark. No nastiness that I noticed.

But I do a agree suki, that there is a lot of showing off, which isn't really helpful on MSE when there are people who would consider Primark heaven sent. TBH I think I may have been guilty of it myself and will try to be a little more mindful when naming "must have" brands etc.

    Hello suki1964

The fashion threads and posts might not be to your taste but they are in the correct place, if you look at the board title;):

    Health, Beauty & Fashion MoneySaving

I am more then aware that the heath and beauty board has been expanded to include fashion, you may go check my posting history and see Ive been posting there for near on four years so I think Im pretty clued up on the title of the board.

Im asking why there are threads there that have nothing whatsoever to do with money saving, why they are being aloowed to clutter a board with total drivel thats more suited to the arms or DT. Where does "i am wearing blah blah blah today " come into money saving? It doesnt. Its just idle gossip and chit chat which already has been moved from old style and I am asking why is it being allowed to be carried on within a money saving forum rather them moved to the arms where general chit chat and gossip is more suited.

Sure the fashion questions asking for help and advice are suited there, but just to post " I'm wearing blah blah" really isnt. There are plenty of fashion boards out there for that soert of idle chit chat and one upmanship, indeed there is talk of some boards that allow the posting of pictures of posters outfits - how long will it take for some to think thats a good idea for here as well?

Not everyone is on high speed broadband and when downloading latest threads includes such trivia, one is tempted to stop using the board full stop

I have not read the threads in any depth, but I imagine the OP's point is that they do not appear to be moneysaving, and therefore are not in the right place.

Doesn't really bother me, but I can understand how it can be annoying to regulars on the board in question.

Thats why theres the Arms and DT isn't it, to keep all the non moneysaving chat stuff in one place, but then you have these users who think the arms is cliquey so they keep there own little cliques on other boards, ya cant win can ya lol. Been lurking for ages and theres more nastiness and useless posts on the moneyboards never mind the arms.

Well I dont do cliques, Im a virgo - everything has a place and theres a place for everything and general chit chat is for the arms not the money saving boards :D

I totally agree that the threads asking for help and advice or sharing experiences ARE suited for the board, like the one running now about good value jeans and if theres someone who can point me to the direction of a Prada bag at Primark prices then of course thats what the money saving boards are for

But general chit chat about what you are wearing ????

I dont mind reading it to get ideas occasionally but the threads arent very long - personally I would prefer to see a general thread that is ongoing rather than one for every day of the week.
