Help- Wireless security Orange Livebox

After recently setting up a wireless connection to my new laptop, I have been worried about my connection not being secure enough. Then today after reading various posts, have become very worried. My connection is with Orange "Livebox", which was set up using a WEP KEY, some of the earlier posters do not rate the security of this apparently, so what do I do to improve my security?. Any advice would be most welcome, as I am not very computer technical.

Well WEP is a lot better than nothing. It can be cracked quite easily these days, but will stop the average passer by or scrounging neighbour.

If you change to WPA, you'll be more secure, and it's not really any harder to configure than WEP.

That's a good question. The Livebox instructions seem ambiguous, but I ~think~ it can handle either automatically. I.e. you only seem to need to select WPA on the laptop and the Livebox uses the correct mode.

I confess I'm guessing there, because I don't have a Livebox to try it on...
