Thanks everyone, I think I understand about the pixels, now I'm just confused as to what I should be looking for.
Is Pansonic Lumix a good make, I think the one I prefer now is the dmc-fz18. that one is only 8MP but it does have a bigger optical zoom. I'm not sure what the lens or sensor is like on it
If I was going to print A4 and possibly A3, then I would go for a decent "Bridge" camera (Fuji S100 or similar), or spend £300 to £400 on a DSLR. The difference in lens quality, combined with a good sensor (10MP plus), will deliver great images.0 -
I've just got a Lumix DMC-FX500 - very nice piece of kit. Camera Labs review here. It's being replaced by the FX550, so there are nice discounts to be had.
Camerabox still has some at £150. I wouldn't buy the "official" extra batteries. Have a look on eBay or 7DayShop to get a 3rd party one. Big savings to be had.0 -
As mentioned above, Panasonic is now chip-locking it's cameras to it's own brand of battery. Old models that have not had a recent firmware upgrade are unaffected. Expect to pay £50 for a Panasonic battery.0
