ASDA Bread

Do any other local ASDA's reduce the price of their bread as much as the one near me? I like to buy their large Hedgehog loafs which cost £1+ but if I go just a little into the afternoon I find dozens of them reduced to literally 5p with a 'Ooops!' sticker on, just because it is a tiny bit mis-shapen. They do the same with the tiger chests and bloomers too, seems a bit pointless since they always keep, and always sell because if I go later they've all been bought. Good pricing in my book! :T

Depends on the store manager - Tesco a few miles away reduce all imperfect items to 10p no matter what they are, where as my local Tesco reduces them by 20p only, some managers are just tight when it comes to "reduce it or throw it"
I remember a already opened loaf with selotape on it reduced 5 times, it was still over half price!! They knock nothing off them.Owed out = lots. :cool:0 -
Quite rightly, I believe these discounts are at the discretion of the stores' staff - not Head Office who might set some guidelines, but no more than that. The local store will know its customer base and what works best for the customers/the locality and also basing it on local competition. I have generally found the best discounts to be in an area where you have a Morrison/Asda/Sainsbury/Tesco all within a couple of miles of each other as we do. I occasionally visit an Asda which has no competition for miles and they do not have to offer big reductions to clear their stock as there are no other stores competing with them - they have the monopoly. Even 60 minutes prior to closing, there are only modest reductions.0

That's the thing, our ASDA where the discounts are is a 24 Hour one so it wont be to clear it before closing, but also it isn't amongst any other supermarkets as mentioned to gain the upper edge. The ASDA is in the town centre, and the nearest other supermarket is a Tesco in the middle of nowhere that must be accessed by car. Strange, but still, I'm not complaining :cool:Male.
