fridge freezer not working

That's asking the impossible. If the fault is fixed, the f/f may go on fine for a long time after. Or, it may have the same fault a few months down the line. No-one can know
no you answered it perfectly.
i was not convinced that the fridge was cooling from the start, as week after week milk was going off early. Something that very rarely happened with my old fridge. I just put it down to mild winter."enough is a feast"...old Buddist proverb0 -
i just wanted to give an update.
on tuesday my 2-month old fridge freezer stops working i.e. stops cooling. I call and describe the problem and model. An engineer is sent out on thursday (today), says its the thermostat, doesnt have the part and says it will take a week to order. Splendid!
In the meantime, I am left with no fridge freezer for 10 days in August, about £60 worth of food spoilt and 2 days off work waiting for the engineer.
I will be writing to the company in due course. What can I reasonably claim?"enough is a feast"...old Buddist proverb0 -
You could argue that a week waiting without a fridge causes you 'significant inconvenience'. Any repair under SOGA must be carried out without causing you such inconvenience. For example, it'd be inconvenient, but not significantly so if you were without a dishwasher for a week. For a fridge...10 days is quite a while...Squirrel!If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

i agree, a washing machine or dishwasher could be overcome. even in winter, the loss of a fridge would be lessened, but its August and 24c outside and 10 days is pretty significant to be without one.
do I address my complaint to the trader or the manufacturer or even my credit card company?"enough is a feast"...old Buddist proverb0 -
The retailer, in the first instance. Then the card company if no joy with the retailer. The manufacturer, presumably, are the repair agents, but they are acting on the retailer's behalf.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. it seems a bit of an inglorious mess at the moment.
I called the retailer to advise of the problem, I assume they called the manufacturer who has instructed the engineer (private company). I can see a lot of buck passing regarding the 10-days with a fridge or freezer."enough is a feast"...old Buddist proverb0
