Laptops Direct

I hope this is the correct place to post. I have identified a laptop that seems to fit our requirements, on Laptops Direct website and they seem to be coming out cheapest. Before I order I just wondered if anybody had feedback on this company. i.e are they ok? Thanks

Purchased a laptop with them about a year ago. Everything fine although they do pester you after you've purchased to take out extended warranty or something to do with pre-delivery inspection.

    Good service though.

Charged me despite cancelling order and took forever to get my money back. Would not use again.

If you search through the forum posts you will find some people have had very bad experiences with them, but, there again, some haven't.

Bad customer service is often an indication of a bad product.

And there's a lot more to customer service than repairing something.

Depends what twarranty you are getting. With 12m, it's like buying new. With 3 months, you are taking more of a punt, so the price should reflect that.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

This is the same company as TVDirect, trading out of the same premises in Huddersfield.

I bought a Panasonic TV from them at the end of last year - they were £70 cheaper than anyone else I could find on, or off, the net.

Collected it myself, so saved delivery cost, but the service was fine. Their showroom is very small but through a window I could see they have a telephone sales team of several people. Being local to me, I am aware they have been trading for quite a few years.

I would definitely buy from them again.

OK - an update  Decided to go for it and order a refurbished laptop on Tuesday with the extended warranty, and next day delivery. All goes through and have a message saying it is in the warehouse waiting to be despatched.

I rang them on Wednesday morning as the tracking system was still not saying it had been sent out (despite the fact it should be due to arrive that day). First told there has been a problem with my payment and transferred to the finance team who tell me that is nonsense and there was no problem. Went back to customer services who then said they were just waiting for the warranty to be sent down to the warehouse and that my laptop was just about to be loaded onto the parcel force van. Thursday morning I check and the tracking system is still saying the laptop is in the warehouse and waiting to be despatched. I ring again and this time told it is a problem with the warranty paperwork and not to worry they will immediately release the laptop and send the warranty on later. This morning I check again and the laptop is still listed as awaiting despatch. I ring again and someone promises to ring me back. They ring me back and say no problem it was despatched last night and tracking system not updated. Told it would arrive today so I am very pleased all seems to have been resolved. But no.......another call from them 10 mins later tells me they made a mistake and they don't actually have any stock and I will have to choose something else or a refund. There is no real sense that they are in anway sorry that they have made a mistake, nor can they actually give a proper explanation as to why they have taken my money for something when it isn't in stock. At best they seem incompetent and at worst I think fraudulent. It would be very convenient to take 100s of orders each day, have customers' cash in the account for several days before then making refunds.

I spoke to sales team who told me the nearest thing with a similar spec would cost me £100 more. I have asked for a refund but I am not at all confident about this ever appearing. Below is the spec of the laptop I wanted. Can anyone advise of anywhere I else I might be able to get this for a reasonable price (was paying £349 plus £25 warranty). Thanks
