Are you sure it will actually go up the stairs and round everything?
I would call a removal company to discuss - smaller independent companies would be better.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I'd triple check it will actually fit up the stairs and round any corners we live in a big edwardian house with very wide stairs and after moving it from one room to another at the weekend theres no way I'd even attempt to get it up the stairs! A removal company is probably your best betPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

Sounds to me like this USA freezer is unsuited to your property. Your having to pay plumbers to shift radiators, install plumbing to it, find someone to actually move the thing even if does actually fit...it's all adding up.
Do you honestly need this huge beast or could you compromise? Sounds a bit to me like a case of the "wants no matter what" rather than "need" as presumably you've made do without such a beast until now.
It must be pretty heavy so have you considered whether the floor will actually take the weight? It also might come back to haunt you again in the future when it goes wrong or if you ever move (even if you don't intend to take it with you future buyers might not want it and insist you move it out - i probably would if it was me!).
If it's that much bother i really think you need to reconsider! Sorry to sound harsh but i think you need to give it some serious consideration!

May I suggest looking at a local independent retailer- they have their own delivery people (not contractors) and be up front and tell them what you want.
They will probably be more flexable than the large chainsbaldly going on...0 -
Your local rugby club, who will often accept payment in beer.
I'm serious.0 -

You'll need a specialist delivery firm.
There's one local to me (Redhill, Surrey) called RPH Hire services, they have extandable lifting platform that deliver huge Sofa and Pianos etc.0 -
Seconding the checking that it will actually go - the big USA fridge freezers are very often bigger than a doorway and have to go into houses via patio doors or doors have to be taken off hinges. The taking off hinges side of things would be the householders responsibility and not part of the delivery deal.
Not sure if you mean you live in a flat, or just a house with steps to the front door - if it's a flat my guess would be that it would be physically impossible to get one of those beasts up a regular staircase unless it's a wide completely straight staircase with no turns to access it top or bottom.
Don't forget to account for the extra space needed for any turns.0 -
DVardysShadow yes im sure it will go up the stairs we are semi detatched and the side if the house has loads of room..easier than going up our main indoor stairs.
Rachbc again yes no probs with it getting in as such its just die to health and safety some companys wont do stairs!
andrew-b the radiator was being moved eventually anyway but now due to getting this it is deff going..no problem at all though..getting done this afternoon. Plumbing it in again not an unusual thing for one of these fridges is it? As for moving it well a young lad on saturday pulled the one we want out as wanted to see behind it and he had no probs..they are just arkward more than anything. Do we 'need' it..in a way yes as current one scratched and getting on a tad but no we could cope without it..but thats beside the point! As for the weight well when full poss yes heavy but rung my plumber who said it is not a problem forthe floor..(said there were heavier people!)..tbh he said the washing machine full of water is equally as heavy. As for removing it well this is our first 'own' house and new so there is no way i'm going anywhere! plus i reckon getting it in is harder than out so wouldn't plan on leaving it anyway.
As for reconsidering to late as bought it!
Just because there have been a few things to think through doesnt mean it is a deff no no..i don't give up!
baldelectrician thanks have found someone now.
Alan m not sure a sepcialist firm is required..it is only a fridge at the end of the day!..they will deliver apparantly depending on how they feel on the day with things like this..
dander we have very wide stairs at the side of the house and it will easily go up there..then through the gate and in the back door..very wide..through the lounge down the hall and into the kitchen..there it will stay! it is a town house with the main hall you walk in then go up 12 stairs to the main living areas.
I ordered off currys in the end as some co's were a no due to stairs!..they said depending on the day and how they feel about it they may carry it up (so ill try and push my luck being nice to them!)..if not they will leave in the garage and i have dh and 3 mates to carry it up..there are 3 delivery men for it so guessing dh and 3 others will be fine..we will see!

I expect you could still cancel if you really wanted to..though it doesn't sound like you do so i'll mind my own

I'd consider taking off the internal doors on the route if they are tight points to make it as easy as possible for them. Most Currys/Dixons delivery drivers always seem to be in a rush and might not want to hang about whilst you remove doors so dont give them excuses to leave it in the garage!
I was going to say hire a "stair climber" if you have to move it yourselves to make it easier.. but looking at HSS they are much more expensive than i imagined! Another idea for you is to lay a scaffold board (or similar) on the steps and push & pull the appliance up that laying on it's side/back. Once in, avoid dragging it across hard floors without anything underneath. When we move our washing machine or fridge/freezer around I put a piece of carpet underneath the wrong way up and slide it on that - makes it so much easier without damaging the floor.
I'd also have some dust sheets to hand to drape over it to cushion it as from my experience of deliveries of large items paintwork often unavoidably gets scuffed somewhere along the route.
Also don't forget to suitably reward the delivery guys for their efforts ..tea/coffee/water etc! Tell them you've just put the kettle on when they arrive to give some incentive!
Anyways hope you get it shifted!
