Hi, I have bid on and won an item for collection only 2 miles away from where I live. i've contacted the seller to request a time to collect and they have replied with a mobile number to call and said the item (a baby item), is at a different address 10 miles away.
Is this allowed?
where do I stand here please?

Did they offer collection / did you say you were planning on collecting before bidding? My TV is broken!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

yes its collection only...0 -
To be fair I have sold stuff on behalf of my parents who live the other of the country for collection only. Although I have changed the location of the item in the location bit. Did they say in the listing where it is? If they have said its 2 miles away and you now have to travel 8 miles and your not happy about this I would refuse to buy the item. If its a bargain though then 8 extra miles isn't really all that far if going by car.0

hi, it is a bargain but the new location is in an extremely rough area on an estate where i'd have to park my car then walk through various ginnels to get to the house - all with an 8 week old baby in tow!
Ho hum, I'll contact the seller..0 -

I sold DS's skate ramps last year for collection only, they were stored over at my mums house so I arranged to meet my buyer there.
I don't see the problem really, can you not take a friend with you to collect?0 -
The item location must be correctly stated in the listing.
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/item-location.html
However, the item location is usually only stated at best as the town or city the item is located in, rarely does it state the full postcode.
You should have checked with the seller before bidding for a more exact location if it was so important. Any chance the seller could collect the item themselves so that you can pick it up from them at the nearer location to you?
Is there no way you can get to the location 10 miles away?"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
I've contacted the seller and they have agreed to collect the item from their friend. alls well that ends well.
thanks for all your replies in this thread :-)0
