Virgin Media V+HD

Yep, they've reduced the installation price to £49.

As we are already with Virgin and have been for over a year and have XL TV package I rang them to arrange installation.

I was told I would have to pay £5 per month to keep my old box. Querying this she was adamant it stated this in the small print on the internet.

Could someone tell me where 'cause I can't see it!!!

Any suggestions? Anyone else finding same?

BTW this works out and £109 but she said I could pay a one off of £99 instead!

Didn't bother

Can't you give them your old box back? If you don't pay, will they be forced to take it off you? :p
    Squirrel!
If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

She's right. If you want to keep your old box as an addition to your new V+ box its £5 a month.

If you go to the virginmedia website, click on the "Already with us" box & follow through, you eventually get to the £5 a month for an additional box.

    p.s. V+ box is great

Not sure if I can post a link yet (I can! :) ), but they have always charged for aditional boxes..

    If not, here's the text:
    V+ £49 set-up fee offer: Available with all TV packages (usually £150). Available to all new Virgin TV customers (subject to status and credit checks). Offer also available to existing Virgin TV M, TV M+ and TV L customers. Existing TV XL customers are also eligible for this offer when they keep their existing set-top box (at a cost of £5 a month) in addition to their V+ connection. Offer price of £49 only applies to first V+ box set-up only. Second and subsequent V+ box set-up charged at £150 per V+ box. V+ subscription included with TV XL;

Edit: It looks like they have been quite cunning and force you to take the extra box if you are already an XL customer!

To add insult to injury a leaflet came with the post today offering a package for £35 (plus £11 line rental) with free V+HD box ........

I was straight on the phone and taking advice from fellow MSE members went to 'Thinking of leaving us'. I told the guy I was not at all happy and he agreed to not only reduce my monthly account and giving me everything I already have but with better broadband rate and with the V+HD box for £49 one off payment. No extra's. I am now paying £43.25 per month for XL TV, was on 10mb broadband so presume I will be on 20mb and basic phone with call barring and caller display.

    Whooohooo. Thank you friends.
