Please Help me choose the best deal

Hi
I am new to this forum and just want some advice. My girlfriend and i have just bought are first house, which we are in the process of doing up. We are expcting our first child in september. At this present time i am trying to sort out my best deal for gas and electric. I have found three quotes so far by ringing around they are:

British Gas
This is a websaver deal
Electric= First 125 Kwh is 20.6 p per quarter and after that it is 8.9p

Gas= First 670 kwh is 6.2 p per quarter, and 2.9p after that.

British Gas will give me a duel fuel discount of £4 every quarter. Payimg by direct debit i will be credited £12 per quarter for electric and for gas i will be credited £10 every quarter.

EON
This is also a web deal
They charge:
Electric for the first 225kw at 21.13 p per quarter and after that 10.2p
Gas= for the first 670 kw is 6.29p per quarte and after that it is 3.151 p per quarter

This is a duel fuel and an online account and i will get 16.4% discount.

EDF
This is just a direct debit deal
There prices are

Electric- first 225kwh 16.71 p per quarter and after 9.94 p
Gas- first 670 kwh is 7p per quarter and after 3.06 p

I have only looked at three companies so far. I was hoping so good people out there would be able to give some more advice on any other deals and if they think any of these deals are any good. Any help would be great.

Thanks

Hi jimmycricket and welcome to MSE :hello:

There's little to be gained by just looking at unit costs with most suppliers since they offer a myriad of various discounts (e.g. payment by DD, prompt payment, duel fuel, etc). Some discounts may be capped.

To make things simple, what you need to do is use a couple of the comparison sites in the resource bar above to see what gives you the best value based on your consumption and region.
Look also at possibly sourcing gas & electricity from different suppliers - duel fuel may not be the cheapest option.

Unless you plan on being a serial switcher to take advantage of the various bungs the suppliers offer to attract you, consider any such bung as icing on the cake ... but even the best tasting icing can't disguise the taste of an awful cake it might be covering. ;)
