What's the Daddy of bathroom extractors?

I need the kind that vents through the ceiling into a flexible tube and out through the eaves, not the kind that goes through the wall.

The one we have at the moment is very poor (and was chosen by the electrician, I think he probably had a job lot he was trying to get rid off, lol). I want something that isn't on a delayed timer, that simply goes on and off with the switch.

The bathroom is only 2 mtrs squared and does have a window but I still want something powerful.

What to look at please?

You could try one of these, maybe a bit OTT for what you require (and it runs all the time)

The fan is the same whether you vent it through the eaves or the wall, you would just route the ducting accordingly, which isn't supplied as part of the fan kit. Just look for the extraction rate and choose one of the higher rated ones.

Thanks guys. I remember seeing a thread some time back with tips on which to buy and which to avoid but I can't find it again. One make in particular was earmarked as 'best to avoid' but I can't for the life of me remember which it was.

Most domestic fans are 100m ducting, but you can get some which are 125mm if you want higher flow rates.

  • I generally fit manrose fans.
I find them very reliable and easier to fit.

I would reccomend an inline fan (manrose do a kit).
Check the flow rate (these vary from 20 ltr/sec to 60 ltr/sec), the higher the flow the more noise

    Another option-
have 2 inline fans installed (and ducted to the eaves), one fan is over the loo and runs off the light switch and the other - over the shower- runs on an independent switch. This will be a little more work, but less noisy.
    baldly going on...

Less than 1m a axial fan will do

More than 1m then you require a centrifugal fan

xpelair and vent axia are the most common branded items

Room is 2 metres square. 2.4m high.

Centifugal fan? Unsure what that is or how it differs?

I think when andyhop refers to 1m, he is talking about the length of the ducting, not the volume of your bathroom! If ducted distance from fan to outside wall is greater than 1m, you need a centrifugal fan (basically it has more pushing power).
Your bathroom is 9.6 cubic m. in volume.
