They seem waaaaaaay too high! Assuming you live in Southern region with a single rate electricity meter, this is what Scottishpower charge on their dual fual online pay monthly account: (all inclusive of VAT)
http://www.scottishpower.co.uk/Home_Energy/Product_Prices/Online_Energy_Prices/
Electricity: 11.104p per KWH with a daily standing charge of 13.52 p
Gas: 3.576p per KWH with a daily standing charge of 12.21p
or with no standing charge option:
Electricity: 16.589p for first 225 kwh used each quarter then 11.104p for remaining kwh
Gas: 4.552p for first 1143 kwh used each quarter then 3.576p for remaining kwh

At my previous home in Kent, Scottishpower were the cheapest dual fuel energy supplier and now at my current home in North Scotland Scottishpower are also the cheapest....whether this is pure coincidence or whether they really are the UK's cheapest energy supplier i don't know. However their customer services are a bit of hit and miss0 -
Do you have standing charges on your bill? If not you will have a second tier price. Those sound high otherwise. Also do they include or exclude VAT?0

Gas 3.5p per kwh (excl. VAT), no standing charge, just one flat rate with ebico.
... but no discounts either.
Why not use the comparison sites in the resource bar above to see what is suggested would be the best value plan for your circumstances?
Check also single fuel supplies - duel fuel is not always the best value."Now to trolling as a concept. .... First of all thanks for the above posts.
Having checked in a bit more detail I am paying the above costs for some of my fuel then .03617 for Gas and .09172 for Electric with no standing charge.
I also get a bit of discount for taking both and doing my own readings but have to add 5% VAT
Can I top this? It's far better to be penny wise than pound foolish.

I think these prices 3.617p kwh and 9.172p kwh for supplemental gas and elec units are pretty good....you'll find it hard to beat these prices. May i ask which energy company you're with?0 -

Makes you wonder why they offer all the other tariffs then, if that is the best deal they offer for everyone.
Don't believe the sales hype - check for yourself, it's so easy with the comparison sites in the resource bar above.
Even if you want to stick with SSE for their customer service, Ebico use their customer service staff and their supply licence, so a switch from SSE to Ebico is treated as a tariff transfer and therefore capable of being done immediately by a simple phone call to them"Now to trolling as a concept. ....
