What's the legality of downloading out of print Japanese albums in the UK?

I'm looking specifically for music by X-Japan, but most/all of their music is out of print and therefore, REALLY expensive.
I'd like to know, what's the legality of downloading music with licenses in Japan in England when the material is out of print.
I don't download licensed music and I hope not to do so for this band, but the price of the albums is truly extortionate, and I will not download unless there's some legal rule of something that makes download said materials legal.
Thanks for any advice on this matter.

No, it would not be legal. Although the albums are deleted someone still owns the copyright and the rights to release the music so, in theory at least, someone could take action against you. Whether they would is, of course, another matter.0

Ashley, have you tried looking on ebay? Just did a quick check and there are some albums for sale...probably not the ones you are looking for!0

Thanks for the advice, and I've had a look, but there's not really much.

Do what I do - take a peek over your shoulder, struggle with your conscience and then click DOWNLOAD.
No doubt Mr & Mrs High Horse will be along shortly to chastise me.0 -

As long as people are aware of the possible consequences, they should be free to make their own decisions.
"Part P" is not, and has never been, an accredited electrical qualification. It is a Building Regulation. No one can be "Part P qualified."
