She's probably paid by echeque and the balance will be taken from either a debit/credit card or from her bank account, which ever method was selected with Paypal. The goods won't be sent until the seller is told that the echeque has cleared, usually ten days if there is money to be taken and/or card details are correct and up to date.

Actually if there is a credit/debit card and a bank account registered then the payment will go through instantly in most cases as they will use the credit card to fund payment if there are no funds in the bank account.
