Is all magnolia paint the same colour?

That might sounds like the stupidest question ever, but there's a few marks on the wall that I need to paint over in order to get our deposit back from the landlord.
I remember him telling he he'd used magnolia all over the house, but I don't know if any 'magnolia' will match? I don't want to buy a dozen different brands to find the best match.
The house was painted less than a year ago so colour shouldn't have faded or been altered by the sun.

Also, how much wall can be covered by a matchpot of paint?

Thanks in advance!

All magnolias are not the same, sorry, there's a slight difference in shades from company to company,a tester Dulux pot will cover approx 18''x18'',you can get a small pot made up,250ml costs anything from £1.99 to £2.50 ish these cover quite a bit more approx 2sq mtrs, then a ltr which covers about 13 sq mtrs for around £10.
I work for a small decorating Co. and find that most people prefer to pay for a quality paint rather than a cheap brand as most times the cheaper one has the consistency (and covers like) of milk.

I would suggest you try something like the Flash eraser on the marks before shelling out for matchpots - they get most marks off our walls.

Even if you can get a matchpot of the official identical colour, it may not match the paint that's been on walls for several years?

    thanks :)
the house was totally gutted and redecorated last summer so paint colours shouldn't have changed too much. Also, due to location of windows, etc, very few interior walls ever see sunlight!
I get the impression that the landlord used cheapy paint as in a few places the paint has just come off the walls where blutack has been up. Also, there's no paper underneath - just plaster.
Anyway, worth us trying hopefully - even if repaint the rooms, i want my ££ back!!

a 2.5 litre tin of magnolia emulsion should only cost about £10-15 if your unsure about it matching just give the whole room a coat it should cover most of it.

see if the landlord has left the paint pots there and buy the same brand they make it in batches so you need the same batch number for it to match which is unlikely unless you buy the same brand from the same store you may be lucky. cover the whole wall not the whole room and they shouldnt notice the difference in shade.

just have a play it cant cost you more than your bond/deposit

I'd get a picture of it and take it down to the nearest dulux centre as they have a machine that can find a paint that matches it closely and you can get a test pot.

A pencil eraser will get rid of most scuff marks. Obviously if the paint has come off then it's no use but otherwise it works very well!

I thought that when I scraped all down my magnolia wall that had only been painted for 14 months. I had the exact match paint (left over) but it was a much lighter colour when I painted it on. I rubbed over it a week later when it was fully dry and hey presto, it looked pretty much like the rest of the wall.

I'd be tempted to buy a tub of paint and just go over the whole wall if it's bad or you don't know the right colour though.
