  • Thanks GG - your progress is amazing, so if it worked for you, I'm up for the Extra Easy route. Just need to start thinking differently about what I buy - lots of cooking from scratch etc. The plan is pretty unforgiving when it comes to eating out (goodness knows how I am going to deal with sandwich situations at seminars and so on), but I guess it's what you do for most of the time that counts!!
  • Hey QB
glad you had a good holiday, sounds like you are back and feeling refreshed to tackle a few things!

sorry about the fertility stuff, heres keeping fingers and toes crossed - I can understand seeing pregnancies all around and feeling wistful , tough stuff ... if it didnt happen naturally would you think of other options (adoption etc?) .. I have a couple of friends going through similar things at the moment so wishing you luck whatever happens

re: job- good idea breaking it down into small chunks is a good idea... Im similarly looking for things at the moment but tend to get overwhelmed looking at the whole picture so I think breaking it down is a good plan ...

re:SW I have no real tips I am the worlds worst chocaholic! ;) seriously tho since we have started meal planning etc and with us both having health issues over the summer (therefore deciding we must be healthier!) we have found it isnt impossible to eat healthily on a tight budget- adding veg carrots, mushrooms etc to bulk out stews or spag bol , lean mince (stretching to make it go as far as poss) ...salad can seem extortionate at times (OH likes the bagged stuff) but if you can mix and match and bulk up with cheap stuff (too cold for salad now really- maybe soups? cheap and easy to make lots) ... ummm...no idea if any of this fits in with slimming world "plans" I always got totally confused by systems where you had to mix and match in that way! ;)

anyway, good luck with all your endeavours, you have done great in making the OPs you have, am sure you will continue in your success!

  • I've been sorting through 'stuff' and have found dozens of old slimming magazines from years' past - Rosemary Conley, Slimming World, WeightWatchers etc... Having copied out the recipes I want, I wonder if there's scope for me to sell them on e-bay????

Achievements this month – well, the outside of my conservatory is finally finished. No more fretting about the winter getting into the wood and rotting it – I can relax. I also went on holiday to Egypt, which was lovely, but has eaten into my reserves.

Today was my first day back at University for the second year of my part time Masters. The amount of work that has to be done over the next three months is hair-raising, and I also need to find a job. Hopefully, I’ll have made progress on both these fronts by next month’s progress update.

Well done QB :j. Are all your pots empty now or do you have an odd 15k lying about anywhere ;)
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • Thanks IB and GreenT!

GG - my pots aren't completely empty, but I'm getting a bit worried about what I'm going to live off if I drain the lot - and jobs seem to be in short supply!! Decision time about what I do next is looming within the next month or so... That said, interest rates are currently so dismal that putting any spare cash towards the mortgage is a no brainer...
