my goal is to be MF or at least say under 30Kwithin 10 years, a lot of my goal about that is to have time not pushing myself so hard with work and being able to do what I would like to do....

Thank you GreenT. Theyoungone - couldn't agree more with your objective... my last job was well paid, but hugely stressful and by the time I left, I had very little respect for my employer... I'm looking forward to finding a job in my new sector - everything I'e experienced so far indicates that it's much more 'my' kind of environment... :D

Right. Now the study is out the way for this year, I need to review what needs to be done during the course of the summer. I’ve achieved two of my three targets for the month already – finishing my last assignment and making my next payment, but am a long way behind with my third of loosing weight…

However, I now have a little more time, so I can squeeze in some more exercise. There are also a couple of DIY type things I need to do… my list for the rest of the month is therefore as follows:
    1. Dig out my pedometer and go for a walk lasting at least 30 minutes – do tomorrow
    2. Buy three booklets of parking tickets for my lodger – do tomorrow
    3. Progress a consultancy project I’m involved with which has been on hold for the last three weeks – start progressing tomorrow
    4. Chase up some garden plants I ordered three weeks ago which haven’t arrived yet – send email tomorrow
    5. Send out thank-you letters to people I interviewed for my last assignment - now done
    6. Update my CV, ask my tutor for a reference and send out speculative letters to potential employers – aim to send out fifteen letters by the end of the month
    7. Repainting the outside of my conservatory. Needs to be done in bits, so my first target is to sand down three window sills when it’s next sunny – make a start by the end of the week
    8. Sand and repaint my sitting room window-frames – sand down by the end of the month

My vacuum cleaner blew up on me a couple of weeks ago. As I was mid-assignment at the time, I registered nothing more than mild irritation at the inconvenience, but this week, I've been sorting myself out and was mildly horrified at the state of my carpets.

The solution started and ended with Argos - a Morphy Richards bagless vacuum cleaner, for less than half price, with a 4.6* rating (out of 5*) from over 175 customers. Plus I was able to buy it with Nectar points!

Quite a result... I'd been thinking of getting my old one repaired, but as it's over 15 years old and has been mended twice before, OH pointed out that it would probably cost as much to repair as to get a new one. In fact, with the Nectar points, it was effectively free. Plus vacuums seem to have improved beyond all recognition since buying my old one - this one even picks up cat hairs!!

I'm so excited. It's quite sad really. But I've got to find something to celebrate after the non-event England vs Algeria match earlier this evening...

LOL! When I got my Dyson a couple of years ago I was very excited and vacuumed the whole house (even though I'd done it with my old (original) dyson the day before) - and was horrified at how much extra dirt it picked up - and overjoyed that the turbo brush could deal with mine and DD's long hair in the carpets (I used to have to comb the carpets to get it out with a big detangling comb!) Mind you, I wasn't horrified enough to stop me telling everyone how fab my new vacuum was and how much extra it had got out :D

Football this year is a non-event, really. All that hype and nothing to show for it :(

well done on your assignment and getting a new 'free' vacuum.

The footy is awful at the moment, the carp teams are even walking all over them. I am not surprised the fans that have paid a fortune to watch them play are booing them. I'd be mortified if I had paid thousands to support them and they play lke that.
Good luck wth the to do list and even more luck for the job hunting :)

Seems we're all in agreement about England's performance last night! I read this morning that Rooney threw a hissy fit as he came off the pitch, cos the team had been booed. Serve them right I'm afraid - it was all very lacklustre and passionless. If I'd paid thousands of pounds to go and support them, I'd feel cheated too!

Anyway, when OH turned up last night, he was greeted with a big smile and a clear canister of fluff the new vacuum had sucked out the carpet. I'm not one of nature's housewives but I love seeing the results of my efforts like this!

Just checked my mortgage balance after the clearance of this month's payment ... The news? 'Only' £23,000 left. Next month, I hope to be under the £20k mark...
