Claiming with interest

Hi First post here, finally taken the plunge into trying to claim some of my bank charges back (wish me luck).

I have found myself increasingly living outside of my over draft and being charged each and every time..

Firstly i would like to know if i have to request my charges from the bank or, as I've already worked them out via my internet banking, can I skip stage 1 and go straight to the letter to claim the charges with interest?

Thanks in advance,
