Talk Talk/ Carphone Warehouse BS

After receiving an extortionate bill this month, we came to realise that we were completely mislead and lied to about about the International boost they were offering. We originally went through Carphone Warehouse, who explicitly told us calls to the US, EU and other countries were free. They repeatedly told us this, after I had repeatedly told them I have a partner in the forces, who obviously deploys all over the world and there were only certain ways of staying in contact.
Like I said, we were told ALL calls were free and never once did they specify a difference between landlines and mobiles. Btw mobile calls in the US are completely free, the EU is not. We were told all were free. Not only this but we were also told that our bill would never exceed £20 p/m. They have yet to be under £40 p/m.
I spoke to Talk Talk today who treated me like a complete idiot, after I had explained everything. The managers were all conveniently tied up and he basically refused to help.
I am in the process of writing complaints to both CPWH and TT head offices as well as speaking to the original guy from CPWH in person. I am also going to the Citizens Advice Bureau about this. However, I would like some input on this. Has anyone else had similar problems and how did you handle it? Do you have any advice on the best way to handle it, other than the ways I plan to?

I get nowhere on the phone with Talk Talk, but if you register a complaint via their website it seems to get dealt with in the UK, and I have even had them phone me back too.
Much better than the call centre abroad where "computer says no".
However, your query is a bit strange as you are calling a mobile number, not another country. To me it seems quite clear, however you did interpret it differently.
Best of luck.:hello:0 -

Thanks.
The mobile thing is that I call both US and EU mobiles from our UK landline. Yet calls to American mobiles are free, calls to mobiles in the EU are not. I call friends and my partner in a total of 5 different countries. The only ones specified differently were those to Korea and Japan. There were no other differences highlighted at all. Hence my confusion and upset as to US calls on all scales being free but to the EU being different.0
