Hi all,
This post is on behalf of my mother,
basically she bought a ACER Aspire 6930G laptop which has a 16" screen from a catalog, shes had it for about 4 months now and it has worked perfect, but last Friday after using it i put it away in its case where it stayed until Sunday when i turned it on a small section of the screen appaeared to be cracked and the ink in the LCD run,i cant understand how this has happened and know it has never been dropped or hitI did a quick search on the net and have seen similar problems to this.
She phoned the catalog today and they werent intrested and just passed her Acer's no. where they said it will be around £400 to repair.
I just want to know where we stand and what can be done.
Thanks

The contract is with the place she bought it from. Go back to them and ask for a repair or replacement.:j30/7/10:j

they are saying its her fault so she has to pay for it to be fixed through Acer, whats her rights?0

There is a known fault with Acer computers, the screens have been glued in too tight. When the computer gets warm it does not allow for expansion. Over time it cracks the screen. There are many posts on Amazon and google about the Acer problem with screens cracking.0

If you are seeking a repair, then you can contact the catlaogue company and quote The Sale and Supply of Goods to Consumers Regulation 2002. Under these regs, the burden of proof with any fault lies with the trader for 6 months from the date of purchase.
Essentially this means you can hold them responsible and then they have to prove that this isn't an inherent fault. If they can't do so then they are liable for the repair.
Should they come back and say that this isn't a fault, you may have to prove it is, and then consider action through small claims court to recover your costs.0
