if you have the latest version of Windows media player (10) then that can do it all for you.
Just go to tools/options, "rip music" tab and set your preferences.
From then on when you want to rip music all you have to do is put the cd in,
select the "rip" tab,
tick the tracks you want,
click "rip music"
and it will convert the music to whatever you set it to in the options
It also has a sync function to put the stuff on the mp3 player - but personally I don't usually use that so you'd have to look in the help (it looks very straightforward)

my daughter uses FreeRipMP3 for hers. You just set it to rip to MP3 and tell it what to rip.
The player should have some sort of software with it but the pc should see it as another removable drive and just let you write to it.0 -
Widely regarded as the best (in several major UK Computer Magazines) is Exact Audio Copy.
It's very simple to use, can get track and artist details etc. off the web and makes very accurate rips unlike many converters especially on Scratched CD's. If it finds a problem when making the copy it tells you the time on the track at which it occurs so you can check it. Oh and it's totally free.

And what make/model MP3 is it? If it's a Creative Muvo or simular then it's just a case of dragging them into the drive on My Computer. If it's an iPod, Phillips HDD100 or something then it should have it's own software.Alex Jones0 -

Thanks I am the same as titewad. I have one still in the box. I have tried the steps above and the windows music player goes through all the motions of Sync etc but nothing ends up on the MP3 device??????
Anyone use Media player and get's it to workNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
when you plug in your mp3 player, does it appear anywhere? eg as a new drive on your machine?
Once you've used media player to rip the music, it stores the converted files in "My music" folder (unless you changed that in options)
Even if you can't get sync to work all the files you've converted should be sitting in there.
It may be as simple as dragging the files from "My music" onto the icon for your mp3 player (this is what I do - that's why I don't use the sync feature)0 -

Hah aha. It works! Bit of a pain in the !!!!!! though.
I went to my music and opened the folder with the cd cover of the album I just ripped in MP3. I righ clicked on the track and chose the option 'send to' I sent it to the j' drive USB where my mp3 player is plugged in. Off it went and is now on the player.
But this seems rather pathetic.
I would recommend and easier FREE propgram that you can simply up and down load tracks willy nilly ?????????/NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Glad it worked ;D
I'm sure the sync system in media player is easy to use.
I just like to physically move files around myself which is why I've never bothered to find out how it works0 -
The sync system in media player does not load the tracks on to the device. I don't really know what sync does then because it does not seem to do anything. Unless you know otherwiseNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0
