I'm going to visit a friend in Dubai and want the cheapest direct flight from Heathrow that's available - any suggestions??
Also, do I need to cover my legs and arms over there?

hi skintchick,
I've just come back from Dubai visiting my boyfriend who works out there. Really jealous wish I was coming with you! Probably not the best person to answer your question about the cheapest flight, though I booked mine really last minute with KLM from Bristol - Dubai for £320 which was brilliant, really empty flight - had three seats to myself both ways and the food was nice too which makes a nice change!
In relation to covering up - no need to worry. Dubai is such a cosmopolitan place now that its not a big deal. You will see the local women covered up of course but mostly cos they want to. In fact I had a woman taxi driver when I arrived at the airport which is something i would't have expected. I would advise covering up though in the shopping malls cos the air con makes it quite chilly! And also if you are walking round the spice souks and gold souks -if not you might get people staring at you if you wore something very revealing but my boyfriend (who's from the gulf) told me its just because you look different not that you are being insensitive to the culture or whatever.
Anyway hope you enjoy your trip. great time to go the weather will be perfect :cool:0 -

Hi skintchick
you haven't given dates or said for how long but I looked on airline network and for 1/5/06 return in 14 days was £288 direct with royal brunei from heathrow.

Thats good, we got back 3wks ago, opted to pay bit extra to go Emirates(LGW) £340 each, cant say it was worth it. Since heard good things about R.Brunai (dry airline) but they let you take your own drinks if thats what you want. And yes cover shoulders/knees in the malls and souks to avoid unwanted attention.0

Virgin Atlantic have just started flying to Dubai. As they are new on the route it might be worth checking for special offers.

I checked Virgin and they are not competitive sadly. I didn't specify dates cos it doesn't matter - I am self employed so can go when I want, although it is for a week as my mate doesn;t want me for longer!!
Will check out Royal Brunei. Dry airline doesn;t bother me as I don;t drink on flights anyway.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j
