I am using an ancient Packard Bell with 98SE on Wanadoo dial up. Want to upgrade to broadband - nothing fancy, but puzzled re Ethernet connection. I can see the socket where the connection goes to the telphone link but nothing else. Is this one and the same or am I missing a vital part?
Always thought that Ethernet ports were bigger. Sure I saw a thread onhere recently but blowed if I can find it. Any suggestions gratefully received.
Cheers

you probably don't have one, but can buy them for £5 or so from ebuyer, maplins etc..
or you could go fully wireless, pc world and curry's are selling a netgear dg834G wireless router and usb wireless adapter for £60, assuming that you have a BT line, not cable.
it is handy to have an ethernet card for setting up the router in the first place, otherwise you would need to borrow someone elses pc/laptop to configure your router initially.

if you go onto Wanadoo broadband you won't need an ethernet connection unless you go for an ADSL router. You'll need a USB port for the modem to connect into.
If you can't see an ethernet port (slightly bigger than the phone socket) then you ain't got one.0
