Dell Inspiron 1300 Inverter Replacement. Cost?

Hello.
I have a Dell Inspiron 1300 which is about 4 years old but has not been used for the last year as I have had a work laptop.
I decided to give it to a family member to use but have found that the screen is no longer lighting up, online research has led me to believe that this is likely to be the inverter and/or the backlight but more than likely the inverter.
I have also found guides online to replacing these and the parts can be sourced relatively easily, the inverter for example sells for £10 to £20 on eBay and other sites.
I don't want to do the replacement myself as I am not the most "nimble" of people and lose my temper when doing things like that, all too easily.
The only "proper" quote I have had so far is £100, which I think is steep, bearing in mind the cost of the parts and economically unviable with the current cost of entry level laptops.
Does anyone know of an honest and reliable Laptop repair service in the North(ish) London or Home Counties area that would offer a more competitive price for replacing just the inverter, as they do not seem to be willing to advertise this on their websites although it appears to be a very common problem.
It seems that repair centres just want to find out how much you know about laptops and have been quoted and work from there by undercutting a couple of pounds. In addition the swapping old for new would appear to be about a 10 minute job, if that.
I would rather just have someone say "Certainly, that will be £X for the inverter and £X for fitting" Or is that too simplistic in this day and age?

refitting the backlight inverter isnt that difficult - its usually the case of removing the screen surround and it will probably be sat at the bottom under the screen with a wire that plugs in both ends - one goes to the screen, the other to the laptop internals... There will probably be a single screw holding the inverter circuit board to the chassis -
I doubt the light itself would have gone - but the inverters can be pretty flimsy.Don't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0 -
Hmm. I might be tempted to give it a go unless I could find someone to do it for about £50 including the part......0
