New build developer - Croudace Homes?

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has any experiences (good, bad or indifferent) of a new build developer, Croudace Homes?
Considering buying one of their new builds in the Stevenage area, and having done a fair bit of googling I can't seem to come up with much about them apart from their losses last year (which I'm not too concerned by as 90%+ of the loss is an accounting trick of sorts).
Has anyone bought from them before, and if so what were your experiences of build quality and customer service?

We bought a Croudace house back in 1984. Very much the typical link detached mock Georgian small 3 bedder.
Nothing much to say really. Nothing really wrong with it, build quality was reasonable, a few settlement cracks etc. We were the second owners. In the highly unlikely event that I was to but another modern house I wouldn't rule them out.0 -
Bought a new build from them in 2006.
All good except after about 6 months a light appeared on the side of my house. Thanks. Er why, was told it was to light up the alley way. Great, why was it done 6 months after I moved in?
Then after a year I came home to find they had removed a half a wall! Yes a wall, my house had a garage attached to it and that garage was filling with water as apparantly the metal things they put in the wall were not in properly so the water was going in to the garage. Luckily the chap whose garage it was took photos etc. as he wasn't convinced Croudace would contact us.
They completed the work ina week or so but was annoyed that a year after buying a house they could just remodel it.0 -
Wow Grovester, that sounds unreal.. they could seriously knock down a wall in part of your property just to erect a garage for someone else?
Surely once you buy a property freehold then no-one can change that property without your prior consent?0 -
Yeah basically it involved them taking out 4 lrows of bricks along the whole length of the building.
They probably shouldn't have but once started what can you do, and ultimately apart from being annoyed it had no real effect on my day to day life.0
