Asbestos Removal

Options
Hi all,
We have outbuildings which we are looking to convert into part of the house and we were told on our survey that the roof contained asbestos. Can anyone give me a ball-park figure as to how much it will cost to have the roof safely removed? We weren't sure whether the cost would make the extension cost prohibitive.

The roof is approx 2m x 6m.

Many thanks
Emma

We had about 50 m of soffit boards (asbestos cement) taken down but the Facia company and about £400 for a Asbestos Collection company to remove.

We laid out the boards on some old carpet, kept damp, and they took the lot away - paid extra for bagging.

I found the company on the county council Waste/recycling approved list of companies for asbestos.

Check with your local council, as some will collect these sheets ..... all you will have to do is dismantle and wrap them in polyphene and leave out the front of the house. Other councils may accept these at their tip.
