I have something listed on ebay which is worth about £75. I had it given to me but no longer need it so started it at £30, which is an absolute bargain given the condition of the item. It's weight is about 6.5 kg so I listed postage as £21 for Special Delivery, the actual postage will be £18.50 + I will need to get a box & bubble wrap or something to make sure it arrives in one piece. I have just had this email through
"Great Price?, I think P&P is well steep compared to the rest"
Now I have looked at cheaper postage but can't find anything at Royal Mail about it being cheaper. I have been asked will I get price for 2nd class postage but maximum weight is 750grams according to Royal Mail but this person has said she regularly posts items weighing between 2 & 4kg by 2nd class post. Can anyone help clarlify this please? Do you think my postage is steep?

Yvonne it could go as a parcel:
http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/content1?catId=23500714&mediaId=23500721
You would still have to charge about £11 or so though to cover packing as well.
As for her sending second class items that heavy, she is talking tosh...call her bluff, send her th elink page to the RM site for second class mail.
Also point out that standard mail only covers up to £32 and mention how you have so many watchers you expect it will go much higher than that!

They probably mean Standard parcels = 2/3 days delivery
Hope that helps.

Would Standard Parcel cover me if it goes missing? I don't think it will adequate for Paypal but as long as I could claim back from Royal Mail it would be ok.2025 - finally back comping after a stressful house move - send me fairy dust please!

you can pay a small amount for extra insurance with standard parcels
up to 8kg = £9.32 plus 75p for £100.00 compensation per parcel0 -
Yvonne, don't forget as well that you are the seller and can send it however you have it specified in your listings. A buyer can't set their own terms, so if you really wanted it special then stick with that, but if you would accept parcel post then add that as an alternative, but don't forget to add the little extra for insurance.
Parcels are not trackable for paypal purposes but they are insured against loss.

I had a heavy item to post so I added a note at the bottom. You could consider adding something like:
'Please note: this item weighs 6.5kg and will be sent via Special Delivery due to its value'My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
I did have a note saying I was sending Special Delivery due to value but I have now added Standard Parcels @ £12.50 inc insurance, the postage will be £10.97 (inc insurance) so added a little to cover packaging.2025 - finally back comping after a stressful house move - send me fairy dust please!
