What version did you have before? Why not just put that back on and renew the sub? You don't need to put a new program on just because the subscription has expired.
i'm assuming your removed the original one before you installed 2009?

    Yes, Kaspersky does that.

Might be what settings are default, it could be scanning the drives which would slow it down, might be worth looking there.

Or try a different free anti virus program

Lots of people recommend Kaspersky so I can't see that this is a general problem. My bet is that it is doing an initial scan of the disk.

After I found AVG wanting in picking up dodgy web pages I used Kaspersky for a year because I found a cheap multi machine licence deal. When that ran out I moved to Avast. I never noticed a problem with Kaspersky though - I only moved to save a few bob.
  • Yes i untinstalled last version before installing this one
I think i had 2008 on which ran out over weekend but they wanted a lot of money to renew, this one was a lot cheaper as im sharing it with someone else on a 3 user version
Ive tried looking through the settings but its confusing and i can only see basic ones
Its also letting pop ups appear and my older version didnt:confused:

It may be that your old Kaspersky was the full Internet Security rather than just anti virus which I wouldn't expect to block popups.

Looking at the 2009 page neither product claims to be a popup blocker - http://www.kaspersky.co.uk/promo2009_features?ipcountry=TR&sitemode=GB - probably because most browsers block popups if set to do so - take a look at the settings on your browser. None will 100% block all popups.

I have used avast for ages and not had a problem, Firefox seems to work quite well blocking pop ups, zone alarm for a firewall, run spybot every now and again and fingers crossed no issues (that I know about!)
