Outrageous, I would be getting a MAC code from them.
What happens if your broadband goes down?, no realistic chance of any help available.. :eek:0 -

I agree, but the OP is already on TT broadband, the issue here is how can they transfer her line rental without her say-so.No free lunch, and no free laptop

If Talk Talk have moved your line to them without your say so, they would guilty of Slamming, and would have to return your line to BT and cover any costs involved.

I took Macmans advice and rang BT. They were very helpful - yes I know I nearly fell off my chair.
It seems they have to have an order from TT to unbundle my line and according to their records they do not have this. So what is TT playing at?
It clearly says in the letter 'We'll even handle your line rental - so you pay £11.25 a month to us, instead of BT and get everything on one simple monthly bill'
BT also confirmed that TT cannot unbundle my line without my permission and that if they did get an order to do this BT would write to me asking if I had consented to this.
This makes things even more confusing because what will happen on the 9th? Will I wake up to find no phone line or broadband because TT haven't got my permission to switch me over to their Essentials
Thank you Ypaymore, because BT confirmed that if they did transfer me TT would be slamming.
I am still waiting to hear from Emma over at the TT forum for futher information on what options I have to keep my phone calls and broadband with TT. TT doesn't seem very keen on customers who do not conform to their bullying ways.0 -
OP, I think the original conversation you had with the call centre was correct. They are mailshotting all existing customers on exchanges which have recently been unbundled to offer them Esssentials, in order to get the line rental revenue. Somehow, the letter you've got has been misworded (probably just set up the wrong routine on the mail merge) implying that you have already accepted the offer or that it was somehow compulsory. Incredible but it can happen.
If BT have confirmed your line is still with them then you have nothing to worry about.
Have you looked on your TT online account management to see what info is on there about your current package? No free lunch, and no free laptop

have had the same letter telling me from now i will pay £6.49 a month PLUS my broadband costs, at the moment i only pay £15 a month for my unlimited broadband (we are not unbundled to my knowledge) and my line rental to talktalk which gives me free weekend calls
this means that i am being asked (sorry told!!) to pay an extra £6.49 a month for limited broadband and free evening and weekend calls....this is not a good deal for me and i do not want it
also no phone number to call on my letter, i do hope talktalk do not intend changing me over as if they do they will soon find i have moved the whole lot elsewhereWhen you know better you do better0 -

The Esssentials price of £6.49 includes the broadband costs unless you are non-LLU. I don't see how they can be promoting thisto you if your exchange is not LLU or about to become LLU.No free lunch, and no free laptop
