Parking Fine for a Location I've never even been to!

Hi,
I hope some of you may be able to help me!
I've just received a letter this morning from 'euro car parks' saying that I have failed to pay a notice in time, and now I owe them £70!
It says that if I don't pay then they will forward the outstanding amount to a debt collection agency.
I think it may be a scam, as:
I'm worried that maybe someone is using fake plates with my reg number on or something.
What should I do?

I think it may be a scam, as:
- I was not in that car park on that day (and have never even been there for that matter!).
- My car was with me at home in another county!
I'm worried that maybe someone is using fake plates with my reg number on or something.
What should I do?

1st ignore the rubbish from euro car parks, don't even think about appealing--ppc's don't do appeals.
If you are really concerned that someone has cloned your car plates, wait to see if you get a pretty picture from euro and go to the local nic. They probably won't do much though.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
Ask for a copy of the picture. As parking attendants need to take a picture of the car before they give it a ticket0

You are mistaking this for a penalty charge notice. The OP has received an invoice from Euro Car Parks, which is an entirely different thing. Even in the case of PCNs, there is no obligation on the CEO to take a photo.
OP, they've probably misread your number on CCTV. I honestly wouldn't worry too much.0 -
As a precaution, find your alibi on the date and time in question, gather written evidence of it and keep it safe. Continue to ignore all the crap they send you as advised by other posters on these matters, then on the extremely slim chance they take you to court, you whup them with your alibi evidence. If you know you're in the right, you have nothing to fear.0

Sorry, not true.
Sometimes their computer or printer breaks down which means they have to resort to giving out one of the old style hand written tickets. When they do this they havnt the means to take a photo but the ticket is still valid I'm afraid.Nature wants the human race to survive. However, it does not depend on us because we are not its only invention.0 -

Had this been a council ticket it may well be valid but as its a ppc one its not worth the paper its written on.;)I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
