I have a Nikon coolpix 4100 that I bought a couple of years ago. It is a terrific camera. You should be able to pick one up cheaply on ebay.
check this one out, it looks in great condition.

Simply add a decent sized SD card and some rechargeable batteries and you will have tons of change from your Hundred Quid.
If you want a new camera then simply buy the best Nikon that you can afford.0 -
The Fuji Finepix J150w is quite a good camera - and often comes in at about £100. I bought mine in April from John Lewis for £99 exactly, with a 1-year warranty from JL and 6 monyth's free accident cover from Fuji. Unfortunately, I think John Lewis don't sell it anymore but you could probably find it elswhere. The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

The good thing about this price range is that they are all about the same quality, not very good, and no one makes a really good one at the price point.
