Good luck with the interview! If I don't respond to your posts, it's probably because you're on my 'Ignore' list.0 -
I've been asked for a photo before and they clipped it to the notes they took of the interview, presumably so they had a visual jog when they went back over my interview.0

If they have asked for a passport sized photo; say you've gone one better and take your passport with a photo. If they then say they needed another photo for them to keep hold of; apologise and say you didn't realise they wanted to keep a photo, you thought it was just for identity purposes.
Unless the letter says they specifically want to KEEP the photo of course.0 -
In addition they will use the photo when making your ID. Bear in mind that often when you get offered a job often the only time they will actually see you before your start date is the interview. I guess the alternatives are ask a new starter to take another day off their current job to go and see their new employer with all this stuff, or you send your passport to them in the post? Of the three options I know which I'd prefer.
The company will probably have some sort of declaration of what they do with personal data for recruitment purposes on their website. But I'd imagine it'll go in a file somewhere and never be looked at until someone has time to shred it.0 -
Oh yeah, and good luck with your interview (to the OP)!0

PocoLocoCoco - Of course Marks and Spencer will not commit identity theft. Do you have the same level of confidence for every one of the (possibly) minimum wage admin staff that will have access to your details though? For a first interview, by all means take them and show them, but dont let anyone take a copy of anything. That can happen when (hopefully) you get the job.0

I am going to take a photograph of myself before the interview, go to jessops print it out and cut it to as small as I can. It will not be passport size but it's the best I can do.
I went looking for passport pictures of myself round this house and all I can find are ones from 10 years ago and I am sure they wouldn't be happy with them. I had my photo on my bus pass but I think I have thrown it in the bin as I can't find it anywhere.
When I worked at jessops (although they have changed their software since) you could print any picture out at passport sized I think there were 6 or 8 on a sheet. probably for about 20-30p. They do do a passport service too but that is about 4.99. Ask an assistant if you can still print your digital pics at passport size.2009 wins: Cadburys Chocolate Pack x 6, Sally Hansen Hand cream, Ipod nano! mothers day meal at Toby Carvery! :j :j :j :j0 -
They will probably offer you the job there and then (after a quick discussion between themselves out of the room after the interview) so M&S will need to info to do the checks before your start date. They don't mess around with second interviews and a separate meeting to go through the paperwork, for customer assistants they want the recruitment process to be as quick as possible.
Customer assistants are expected to act professionally (as you'd expect in any job) and I doubt they will be impressed with people that refuse to hand over details or don't bring what is requested or something taken on a cameraphone...there are plenty more people that will be able to do the process properly. Isn't there any way of raising the little money for passport photo's?0 -
