It may sound almost funny, hence your response Cleaver, but as things stand at this time amcluesent is absolutely correct. My prediction is human population will be down to 3 billion by the end of the century, the loss will be a mixture of resource wars, famine and pestilence.

You should enjoy your money now and purchase a house.
Don't want to live out the century answerable to a BTL landlord, do we?

Welcome to the 21st century calendar, with some notable features :-
    a) months and seasons are replaced by reality series. Forget winter->spring, try X-Factor->Apprentice
    b) decades and part decades are too hard to remember. So instead of the late 80s we now get 'credit crunch years' , 'swine flu' , 'peak oil years' , 'post-911' etc -- all marketing strategy to keep us subservient.....

Fair enough. What will be, will be I guess. I have enough trouble predicting three months ahead, let alone 100 years.

I kinda agree with Julie though, once a tipping point is reached where your average joes are getting power cuts, money will be poured in to sorting something out. As I say, I'm not good with predictions, so this 'sorting out' could be finding how to power everything using invisible rays from our eyes, or killing everyone in China and burning their stuff to keep warm.

I have this image as my Windows desktop, sort of a momento mori...it certainly causes some double-takes on the train when I'm using the laptop :)

The government is planning on killing everyone at or above state retirement age.
This is why public pensions are unfunded.

It is my belief, stupid as it may sound, that the oil companies perpetuate the fear of oil running out. This is not helped by the obvious fact we will over populate the plant in a few years and consume all resource eventually. This is simple sales and they do it to keep oil high. The end goal of such corruption goes beyond governments and is basically down to a few who started the monitery system back in the days. It's a little like slavery but without the whip, you have to work to live and that keeps you in line and the oil companies are gate keepers jumping on the back of this paradox. A little deep, I know.. I recommend zeitgust the short film to all.

A popular misconception, but hey if it makes you sleep better, go for it.
