I thought you said he gets a student loan? Plus i get 100% off my council tax. I just have to send my NUS card to the local authority. That is the case in leamington spa, maybe it is different where you are from?

I think cazzie said that he had to pay back his studnet loan - presumably the 9%, which it taken off his salary before he gets it?
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

The 100% reduction in council tax for students only applies where everyone in the house is a student. If it is a mixed household then 25% is correct.

Is it only me that thinks you don't fully understand your own finances?

You need to be brutally honest and realistic about your income and your out goings, likewise, do the same for your partner then come back and ask your question.

You need to budget for a twelve month period and make it very clear to everyone the state of your finacnces if you want useful advise.

I don't mean to sound harsh, but i've just read all the comments and i'm lost in your finances and cannot offer any advice

Am i right in thinking your combined monthly income is £2,208.00 ???
