acer on laptop

hi i bought a acer ne laptop which is on linux operating system.
i bought it 9 months ago now.
the problem is it keep losing it interent. i keep rining acer up n they say to rebot it. which is a pain as it has no cd drive. so i have to plug usb cd drive in to rebot it.
it has lost the interent connection several times now.
the laptop if useless for me. i have explained his to acer and all they say is that i have to keep reinstalling it.
has anyone eles had this trouble?
cnt see why i cant have refund as the laptop aint no good to me. i bought i purely for the internt.
do i have any rights? or is a i acer true in what they say i have to keep reinstaling the cd.

    Sounds like you have a faulty keyboard too.

    Have you tried switching channels on the router? Some channels will give better reception than others. If you tell me the model and make, I'll talk you through it.

    possible options - check power settings for wifi card in winxp it is set to switch off until needed by default
    install ubuntu and see if thats any better
    install win7 and see if thats any better
    you have a usb cd drive so the last 2 should be easy to do

    thanks for all your responses. i bought the acer one netbook from pc world. but they said i have to contact acer as its a software fault. thanks will try everything you all said.
    going to ring them again in the morning to see if i can get it sorted
  • How do they know its a software problem?

    Have you tried a direct wire connection, and tried wifi up close to the router ,it might be due to many reasons
