Lack of communication from seller

I won 3 auctions for hatching eggs from a seller who lives close to me on Saturday, these are chicken eggs which (hopefully) are fertile that I can incubate and hatch off, but as generally fertility is not that great when they are posted (as they get knocked about a lot) and also you have to incubate them within 5 days of them being laid so I am keen to get them.

There are loads of these eggs for sale on ebay but I looked carefully for a local seller where I could possibly collect them instead of having them posted therefore saving on postage fees (which is £7 per item due to lots of packaging and special delivery) and also so I knew they would be better protected if I collected them.

I contacted the seller before I bid through ebay to ask if they would be happy for me to collect if I won and they replied to say that was fine.

Great!, I won the 3 auctions for the eggs I wanted and asked the seller to send me a revised invoice minus the postage so I could make payment by paypal, also to ask when it would be convenient to collect.

Yesterday the seller emailed the invoice for one of the items but with a message to say to ignore the invoice and to pay cash on collection, they left their mobile number and asked me to contact them to arrange collection but said tonight would be best to collect.

No problem, I phoned but just got their voicemail so I left a message and my contact number and suggested 7pm tonight and could they call me to confirm and also give me their address.

I have had no contact since.

So, I have a few concerns:

Firstly, I can't just turn up at 7pm tonight as I don't know the sellers address

Secondly, I can't pay for the items via paypal yet as I will have to pay an additional £21 in postage, when I don't want them posting as it will reduce the fertility of the eggs to practically zero, but if I don't pay for them soon the seller may be able to file a non paying bidder report against me?

I did read the feedback prior to bidding and it was 99.5% on around 1100 transactions and the comments were all good

Anyone any ideas what I should do? I don't want to keep leaving it as as time goes on the fertility of the eggs will decline anyway and be useless in a few days time.

Be patient, wait for them to call you back. If they prefer you to pay cash on collection, pay it. It doesn't make a difference to you, as if you collect an item Papypal doesn't protect it.

If you haven't heard by lunchtime give them another call - they may be in work and not able to take personal calls. Also, you can find the address, by requesting the details of the seller. You use the advanced search option, put in the item number and the name of the seller, and ebay emails you the address and contact number of the seller, with the postcode so sat nav coudl find them.

ah, will try that, thank you, yes I know about the lack of protection from paypal if you collect, I normally pay immediately when I buy something from ebay as I don't like it 'hanging around' if you know what I mean, I will call them again after lunch (it was yesterday afternoon when I called) and if I get no response I guess will just get their address and turn up tonight at 7?

Thanks cyberbob, I don't think they are registered as a business, I have requested the sellers info and ebay say it has been emailed but there is nothing in my inbox?

In the meantime I have sent them another message through ebay jsut to ask if 7pm is ok this evening and will just have to wait and see now I guess
