New car for my Mum - Best Scrappage Deals??
Options
Hi everybody!
Am just after a little advice please. My Mum has a very old Yaris, that she shares with my younger brother. It's literally on it's last legs, and she has a little money aside.
I have said I will look into this for her. From a financial point of view, she has the following to play with: -
- A 10 year old car in her name to trade in
- around £2000 deposit
- £100 a month for 3 years for payments
I have had a quick on google and the best deals / prices in her price barcket are: -
- Hyundai i10
- Suzuki Alto
- Kia Picanto
- Fiat Panda
There are also Pugs / C1 / Twingo's in that price bracket, but all with lesser specs.
The Hyundia jumps out, purely because of the 5 year warranty and good write ups.
I am thinking to buy new at the moment, but was wondering if it would be worth getting 'nearly new' to increase the spec of the car?
All she wants is power steering and that's it really. She isn't the best driver in the world, and would also look at Automatics but this would of course increase prices.
Any advise / pointers would be appreciated?
Thanks in advance.

auto expree just did the "best scrappage buys" and the panda and the i10 came out on top for under £5k, i don't think you can really go wrong with any small cars, but i personally would choose the pandaDebt@LBM1=£4050 1st DFD 27/08/09
Debt @LBM2 =£14,469.97 2nd DFD 14/03/2018 :T

Hyundai i10, if you are prepared to wait for one.0

Another good example, based on the parameters you've given is a new shape Ford Ka - the Studio in a metallic paint would be achievable with scrappage at just under £75 a month over 3yrs assuming her mileage is under 12,000 a year. The Ka's are all £35 a year road tax.
or..does she want HP (meaning she pays off the whole amount over the 3yrs and no final 'balloon' amount to pay?)“Official Company Representative

My mum just bought herself an i10.
4995 after trade in but she paid and extra amount to have metallic paint
with the rest on finance with hyundai (or whatever finance company hyundai use in their dealership) the monthly payment for 3 yrs is £144. which I thought reasonable.
Not sure what it would be on 3000 ish (if your mum used her £2000 deposit) but maybe worth visiting them for a test drive and a qoute.
The only thing my mum was disappointed with is she has to wait until Sept!!!0 -
Thanks for all the replies - I think we have got it down to the Hyundai and Kia.
She's going to have a look this week, and hopefully order by Friday. Need to get it done ASAP, especially looking at the lead time on the i10!
PS - DealDrivers, she is looking at buying, and the spec and price of the Ka rule it out, and for the extra cost, I think you're just paying just for the Ford badge, and at that level of Car she's not too fussed about that.0 -

im after doing a scrappage as well, how would I be able to get it to about 100-125 on HP? I'm after one of the cars stated here, or perhaps a toyota iq/yaris. Any advice? Cheers.0

Get the best deal you can, make sure the dealer has your phone number then walk away to think about it (ignore anything the dealer says about having to be quick etc. etc. as the price/deal is about to go up). Within a few days they'll be phoning you. Tell them it's too expensive, or your'e thinking of going for another car (that they don't sell) etc. The price will drop significantly.....

The Hyundai classic i10 for £4995 (on scrappage) is the ONLY car at that price range with AIR CONDITIONING! I am going for mine today! There is a 1 - 4 mths waiting list but luckily the garage I am going to has ONE in stock that nobody wants because it is grey. Another £355 if you choose METALIC except for RED which you pay no extra, saving you another £355.0
