Capital One - Daily Limit Exceeded & Call Centre

I tried to use my credit card this morning in a machine to pay for something, I got a message "daily limit exceeded"

Luckily had another card so managed to carry on with transaction..

Called the Indian Call Centre who were just a nightmare, kept insisting I must have been trying to withdraw cash as I would only get this message in this instance  (I wasn't, just trying to pay for something via payment machine not a cash machine) . Then asked if I was using my Capital Card, and the correct pin (yes to both)!!

The women kept offering to send me a pin reminder and insisted that if I had a failed transaction she would beable to see it on her machine, and she couldn't therefore it didn't happen

It's not so much the problem with the card that has left me in a foul mood this morning but having to deal with the call centre :mad:

Does anyone else ever get this message? I know I was using my correct card and pin and have half a mind to cancel this after the dealings this morning..

It's a 1% cashback card..

I refuse to speak to Asian call centers; they are a bloody waste of time.
Sack the lot of them and employ some of the thousands of un-employed in our mother land.
Email Capital One via their online secure email when you log in to your account, I have had more success that way, if all else fails call their fraud team based in England somewhere down south I think.
I will dig the number out for you and post it later for you.
Ring them up and explain your problem with the call centre and they will help you.

Thanks PROLIANT, I appreciate it.. I haven't accessed my Capital One Credit card online and haven't set this up as yet but it's time to do this I think - especially if you can contact them by secure email..

I had to call 0845 8400400 to speak to them..

Doesn't matter whether it's BT, Tiscali, Capital One - whatever call centre I call which isn't UK based always hacks me off as the call is always such a painful and difficult experience..

Actually to be fair there may have been a couple of times when it's been fine, but I have to say these are usually for the very simple enquiries...

lol I called Capital One's call centre last week to confirm my account had been closed. I was on the phone for 6 minutes, asking the advisor to repeat everything she was saying. It is really hard to understand those people.

Barlcays makes 3bn in the first half yet refuses to employ british citizens to man their call centres!!!!!!!! Barclays serves the british and doesn't give anything back. Thank Beep I'm Premier where I have fortunatley never had to speak to someone who asks me my postcode 20 times and then claims they live on the next street!!!
