Is it cheaper to list by business account on ebay?

hi there
I'm thinking to start my little business on Ebay. I normally sell bits & pieces of my own stuffs. But planning to sell clothes & jewelry in 2-3 months times. Wonder if I change to business account would it be any benefit in term of listing price. Buy it now item is at 40p I think it's quite expensive to list like 50 items or more. I will be in another country as well with cheaper currency do not wish to pay that much. Anyone has business account please help
thanks:A:A

AS soon as you buy things to sell on or manufacture things specifically to sell you are a business and need to change your ebay accounts to reflect that. It is nothing to do with listing benefits, it is a requirement. You will then need to comply with all the busisness requirements from showing your address on your ME page to accepting returns.

Within 3 months of starting to trade you also need to register with HMRC.

Thought they scrapped the 3-month grace period, and it had to be pretty much straight away now... I await correction though :p

Guess I was wrong, or their own site's out of date.

At the end of the day though, you're better off registering sooner rather than later.

You will still have to register a a business with ebay (you will get reported if you don't). As regards tax you will have to refer to the country you are going to be based in. Depending on what you are selling within the uk your items may be effected by import duty. So you need to get proper advice on this

If your business is based outside the UK make sure you set your ebay account up correctly to show your location and the estimated delivery times based on airmail post. Obviously if you are in Europe then no additional taxes will apply, but if you happen to be outside then make sure you are very clear about your location so that buyers will be aware they may face a customes and handling charge if the costs are high enough.

Any duties incurred are the responsibility of the buyer, but it doesn't hurt to remind them a couple of times where you are based as many buyers don't read past the first few lines.

As no one has answered the OP's question, I will. No it costs the same to list whether you are a private or business seller. The advantage of registering as a business is you may get a FVF discount depending on turnover and feedback/DSR's as you need to be a business now to be a powerseller. If you open a basic shop you can list for 20p but you will need to work out the pros and cons as the subsrciption is £15 per month. You can open a basic shop as a private or business seller.

thanks for all I think I don't need to register business as it isn't based in UK. Of course, I will register with the organisation with the country I'll be. Hope everything is going well

You will also need to register as a business ebay as previously stated above, regardless of which country you are in.
