    Hi Drea 2904,
Poor old you, hope you have recovered, i used to do the Gap PO's in Glasgow, & that sounds very, very familiar.Over the time, i must have visited every PO in Glasgow & the outskirts, most times u needed someone from the UN to escort you in & out, because they always knew a stranger was in town, don't think it ever occurred to them that it could have been a mystery shopper in their midst.:eek::eek::eek:
I stopped working for Gap when they insisted i identify myself after a bad Golden Arches job, when yobs were drinking in there & manager couldn't get them to leave & the skateboarders were skateboarding down the banisters. This was all going on during my visit & on cctv & burger joint wouldn't accept this as their 'moment of truth':eek::eek::eek::eek:certainly wasn't worth the aggro or the rotten food they were serving @ the time.
I pointed out to Gap, that it wasn't a mystery if they were going to allow me to be identified by the company.

CHEER UP IT CAN ONLY GET BETTER FOR YOU :T:T:T
Wow, that's some experience! Certainly not worth the free meal and £4 quid is it?!

Luckily I live in a very affluent area surrounded by footballers and their stuck up wives but only 3 miles down the road is one of the biggest council estates in Manchester. One minute I'm shopping in a posh dept store browsing round the Prada handbags (looking only - for MS purposes!) and the next I'm in the burger joint a few miles away where every female has black slicked back hair really tight in a greasy ponytail, tattoos, pram and of course the obligatory cigarette. (Aparently you can't have a pram without a cigarette in your hand in this town).

When I go with my 2 year old they think I'm its Great Grandma I'm so old! :eek:It's like different countries, never mind different classes.
  • Okay, so hi everyone.

I've been reading this thread a bit, and have had a good look at the OP, but was wondering if I could ask a couple questions, basic things i wanted to clarify.

Im at university at the moment, and obviously MSing seems to be a perfect way of earning a little bit of money. But if, for example, i have a busy week and don't want to do any MS tasks, this is okay, right? I like the idea of being a MS because there is no obligation at all to do them

Also, in terms of tax forms, assuming i will be earning under 6k a year, am i correct in thinking that i would not have to fill out any tax forms? but that i would simply have to fill out the self employed form?

Also, say for example i wasn't ready to start MSing until next month, but wanted to get the self employed form out of the way, if i was to complete it now, would it matter? And what would happen if i completed the self employed form but then couldn't actually complete any MSing assignments, would i have to complete another form to say i was no longer self employed?

and similarly, once a person has decided to stop MSing, do they have to declare themselves no longer self employed?

I think thats all, my apologies if there is something that is covered in this thread or i've asked a silly question.

    Thanks

I can answer a bit of this (first time I've been able to help anyone :j!) - you can do as many or as few jobs as you like - it is really flexible. However, if you are booked in to do a job and then find you can't do it you need to release it immediately. If it's really short notice you'll have to call the office as far as I'm aware, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

As for the rest of it, you'll have to wait for someone who knows more than me I'm afraid!

    Hope that helps.

  • Thank you Mo2,

If i were to take an assignment and then have to release it (obviously, hopefully this wouldn't happen), would i then find it harder to get another assignment? or even not get an assignment at all in future?
