Hi all....
I hope you all don't mind me starting a diary. I've only just made my first post on the main board but feel a diary would be really helpful. It'd be good to update it every day to keep myself going. Plus I've had a nose on some of your diaries and they're so inspirational!
I guess my lightbulb moment has been slow burning until it popped today and I've hit rock bottom. But I know there must be a way to sort it out. It's all my fault for living beyond my means, but I can't believe I'm 22, in a full time job and already struggling with bills, let alone my loans and such.
Anyway, my first aims are:
1. On my day off on Tuesday, get all the info I need to complete a proper SOA.
2. Not to spend any money on anything non essential whatsoever.
I'm not sure if this is the right etiquette, to start a diary without even having an SOA yet (I tried to do one just now but was making up the figures from my head and got a bit freaked out). So sorry if it's not. Just tell me and I can shut up!
EDIT: First baby step taken! I have cut up my credit card

Hi Sam!
Well done on the light bulb moment and coming on here and starting your diary. Great first steps! :T Just think, you're 22 which is still young, and because you've learned by your mistakes early, I'm sure you'll manage to sort this out in no time! If only I had my lightbulb moment at 22 I'd be debt free by now.... thats wishful thinking - I was still raking up the debts with credit cards and loans here there and everywhere!!
I find the diaries on here soooo inspiring, and it definately helps keep me on the straight and narrow where spending is concerned! I'll subscribe to your diary so I can keep up with how you are getting on!
Good luck on your "No Spend Days" over the next few days until your day off!

Just realised I missed a massive goal out of my first post:
3. Find a way to pay council tax & virgin media....
Also I intend to find a notebook somewhere and keep a spending diary (although I'm hoping not to spend!)Aiming to get rid of by Christmas:
Payday Loan 1: £850
Payday Loan 2: £437.50
Payday Loan 3: £312.500 -
Morning....
Started the day feeling very positive after last nights postings, but am slipping slightly. I have no idea how I'm goning to pay virgin & the CT. I'm considering doing another small payday loan just so I can get them paid! But I know that's not the best idea.

Hi, I don't often offer advice but thought I would log on as you haven't had a reply. Really really think about whether its a good idea to get a payday loan (sounds like you may have done this cycle before so know how terrible they are). You would be better off calling them and saying you are putting together your SOA and realise you are late with the payment but are sorting it out and will call to advise when they will be paid. Surely worth a go until you sort out why you haven't been a ble to pay? Just some friendly advice
more debt isn't the way to go.

I know council tax isn't too bad, it's the virgin I'm worried about because they will surely cut us off, and my flatmate will not be impressed!
You're right, more debt isn't the way to go because it's just going to make things tighter next month....still tempted though, just to get it done.Aiming to get rid of by Christmas:

hi and welcome to the boards, tomorrow will be a day well spent if you get your SOA together and it will be an eye opener and will help others give you advice. A spending diary is a very good idea it's amazing how much money we all generally fritter away. As has been said before think very very carefully about payday loans, they are very expensive and can cause you more problems, asyou say it will make things tighter next month. Another thing you may wish to look at is your agreement with your flat mate and whether it needs reviewing but that's something only you can decide.0

The agreement with the flatmate is just half of every bill...so that's ok...
I've done an SOA on the main board and it was an eye opener, I had no idea how much I owed. As for spending, I must find a little noteboke to keep spends in!
Update, I just rang my mum to tell her the true extent and she was lovely as always, and said she wasn't really suprised and thought that I hadn't been telling her everything anyway. It was good to get it off my chest.
Going to ring CCCS tomorrow and go over my finances. I really need to learn how to budget!Aiming to get rid of by Christmas:
