Nervous about a buyer

Someone bought some alloy wheels from me last night and hasn't yet sent payment. Looking at their details now is making me a bit nervous: Zero feedback, member since December '08, location Poland, but the address given in the eBay sale notification is in County Cork, Ireland. Is this ringing alarm bells with anyone else?

The other problem is that I've only quoted for UK mainland courier delivery, but didn't make that clear in the listing. There's no way anybody will deliver 4x 17" wheels with tyres to County Cork for £27.50. Is it reasonable for me to contact the buyer and ask them to pay more for delivery, or maybe suggest they organise their own courier? Or given the above worries, should I just wait and see if they turn into a NPB?

How did you not make it clear - on the P&P tab it would have said "Posts to: UK" and then had the postage options for the UK. I would send them an invoice with appropriate Ireland postage (or if you're really concerned, take the NPS and the neg).

Silly me, of course! ROI is not part of the UK. Serves me right for not setting up buyer requirements. Could they NPS me for refusing to ship to somewhere I didn't say I would ship to?

Yes, I believe so unfortunately. You could try asking the buyer to agree to cancel I suppose.

see how much it would be to post them to ireland, then you can offer the buyer the price or cancellation.

Talk to the buyer if you didnt state ROI shipping rates in your listing they really should have asked before bidding. So find out the costs and put it to them.

I don't find the registered in Poland thing worrying in itself at all. I mean, they could have registered over there, then moved to Ireland looking for work as so many have.

The shipping , well you've had some good advice above so nothing I can add to that really.

im afraid its your fault for not having your buyers regs set up right

i would find out cost to ireland and then invoice him the cost. maybe thats why he hasnt paid yet or maybe he just doesnt want to pay straight away, hasnt been on line since etc, he gets 7 days to pay dont forget.

Well he contacted me on Tuesday for a price to County Cork. Sent him an invoice (£75 for the courier instead of the £25 for mainland UK!) and now he's asked if I can wait until next week for payment as he's going on holiday.

Looks like it's going ahead, but I will be extra sure I do this by the book so I'm as protected as possible: tracking numbers, make note of any serial numbers, security markings on the wheels, etc.

Still not been paid. He's claiming that his bank his taking a long time to let him load funds on his credit card. I suspect he's taking the p1ss but have given him the benefit of the doubt, and told him that he has until Tuesday 25th to pay up then I will raise a NPB dispute.

I'd open a NPB dispute now it may hurry him up a little. If he is just waiting for funds that should be sorted before the 7 days is up. At least it will mean in a week if he's not paid you will be able to have your FVFs back and relist.
