I've just sold an item via ebay. I had an email from someone claiming they'd used Buy It Now but was unable to pay. However, when I looked at my email, the item had been brought using BIN and the buyer had already used PayPal to send payment.
I asked the person who sent me the email if they were the person that sent the payment, but they said they weren't, so it looks like someone simply beat them to it. However, when I look closer at the buyers details, his address is unconfirmed and his email address ends @domain.com .......I find this a little strange as I've never seen an email address with this.
I immediately withdrew the money to my bank account, I'm just wondering if anyone else thinks this looks suspicious or am I just being over cautious?
Also, how long should I wait before sending the item, surely, if the money clears into my account then there is absolutely no way this can be any kind of scam??
Would appreciate any comments anyone may have.

I'm just on my way to bed but this is sadly wrong. Disputes can still be opened, Paypal can still claw back funds, and if none are available in your Paypal account, it will be in negative figures until you restore it.
I'm not saying this will happen, but it could. No doubt somebody else who is not as sleepy as me will be along in the morning to advise you properly- I know I'm not much use in this state!
As for the email address, I've never seen one like that either, but then, they do come in all shapes and sizes. (I used to have one that ended in @spank-me.org.uk, bet you've never seen one like that before either! ) 0 ) 0

Oh, and don't worry about the confirmed thing. As long as you post to the address on the payment you should still be covered under the seller protection policy. Think posting has to be done within a certain timeframe for you to be covered too. For some reason seven days seems to ring a bell although I definitely wouldn't quote me on that in case it's ringing all the wrong bells.0

It makes no difference at all what you do with the paypal money, it can be taken back and either your future funds can be taken or your account put into a negative balance and you chased for the money. However making sure you comply with the paypal seller protection rules will keep you safe.
Ignore the email address, there are some really funny ones out there as you can buy whatever ones you want.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Look at the PP payment - if it says to send now, then it has the PP seal of approval. (Which might not be perfect, but does at least give you some help if there's a problem)

I know the feeling. I keep hitting ; instead of l, and ; instead of ' (I blame the fact my keyboard's bigger than TD's... the colon's no bigger than any other key, thoughThat's one of my common ones..I usually have to correct every post I make!

Another random tendancy I've picked up is putting the £ sign after the number, not before (so 6£.20, for example). Makes the accounts sheet look interesting for a few minutes until I fix it :rotfl:Back on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.

Others had answered the main question. This email sounds like a phishing one or a potential scam. Was it actually received via ebay (a copy would be in your ebay inbox too). As far as I know the only ones you get with someones email address on are payment ones directly from Paypal (someone correct me if i am wrong). Just ignore it and remember to always directly check your paypal and email accounts0

My hell is typing in I@m or I@ve and ending up with stupid link-like things everywhere. SO annoying.
Edit: hm, apparently the links don't end up in the final post... good to know!My TV is broken!
