We own an ex HA house and that couldn't be further from the truth. That may be true of HA rented property but to have shared OWNERSHIP you have to have a mortgage which means you couldn't possibly be on the dole. If you can't afford to pay your mortgage then you would be repossessed just like a 'normal' homeowner. And in actual fact, the worst people in my road is a family who are not HA who stand on their doorstep smoking and drinking all day whilst leaving their battered up old bangers parked all over the street and their dogs roam wild to foul everywhere. Never had anything like that with the shared ownership houses....0
