Breaks in employment/dealing with credit card

in Credit cards
Hi All
I am a "Professional Temp", mainly because having moved to N.Ireland i can't get a decent permanent job to save my life. Consequently I am temping but keep having unplanned breaks in my employment and income. These breaks are to a certain extent inevitable, however the current one has been going on for over a month. I am in receipt of JSA.
I unfortunately owe a lot on credit cards, but even with low interest rates (sorted out before my move to NI) the repayments are too much to bear when I have no income.
Should I talk to the credit companies? I feel that as I am doing temporary work which by its very nature starts and stops then they won't want to listen to me. Is this correct or am I being a wuss? What reception am I likely to get from them?
Thanks.

Well I am far from an expert but it seems to me that the vast majority of problems that occur from defaulted/late payments due to unemployment etc stem from people not talking to their creditors. It is always best to be upfront with people you owe money to and in the vast majority of cases they are more thanwilling to work things out with yourself. I'm sure more experienced people may also encourage you to speak with the local CIB (or the NI equivelant) if you are that worried about your finances.0

As above, the Creditors would much prefer you contacting them before you start missing payments to make alternative arrangements.0
