car servicing

My car is due for its service and the dealership says if I get it serviced anywhere else then my warranty may be invalid. Is this right or fair due to the extremely high price they charge?

No. Your warranty will be invalidated if the garage that you use uses anything other than the manfacturers parts. But as long as the garage get the parts from the dealership, and shows so on the service receipts, then the warranty is not affected.

We have had all of our contract hire vehicles serviced locally for the past 3 years, and no issues, even on returning them. If you want to be 100% secure then ask the garage for the boxes for the parts/filters etc.

We personally have got a much better as well as cheaper service through our local garage. The dealerships are pants!

No, as far as I know this isn't true. Look at servicingstop.co.uk .They were featured on Dragons Den this week. I can't vouch for them as I have never used them, so please don't take this as a recommendation, but they seeemed to know what they were doing

The european warranty changed a few years back to stop main dealer prob, as long as a garage is vat registered and uses manufacture spec parts they are fine
