I guess I need to look into how much these options will cost. I'm trying to plough everything spare into my mortage and that isn't much to be honest as we've only just got the place, well move din at least

Many thanks for the info guys.

    Martin.
  • If you really can't live with it,then taking them up and re-laying/replacing may be the only answer.

Take them up and relay is best option.
Bodge is to lay other boards over the top.

If this is a new home as in new build less than 10 years old, I would call the builder and use the the new home guarantee so they can get it fixed at their expense and not yours

The house is about 20 years old so I guess its up to me. I wonder how much it would cost to get someone to sort it? Its not really the sort of thing i'd attempt myself.

    Thanks again.

Have to agree that the above advice is the best you've had.

As you've clarified that the unsupported joints are a small minority - you need to lift those boards. And then put noggins between the joists (3" x 2" at right angles between the joists) at no more than 10" centres over the unsupported area. Then you can re-lay the existing boards

Easy job - provided the poor job already evident - doesn't also have some surprises underneath?
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !
